About JMD

I love being a guitar instructor.
I teach students how to play the music that inspires them.

I began playing guitar when I was fifteen years old after my dad gave me a DVD of Neil Young with Crazy Horse. I just knew I had to learn to play. I took private lessons for many years and went on to study jazz and classical guitar at The University of Toledo.

I’ve performed in bands, but what I find I enjoy the most is working with students. Before I began teaching guitar, I taught martial arts for several years. That experience showed me the most successful teaching skills were patience and positive reinforcement. I apply those same skills to teaching guitar.

Guitarists like Neil Young, Robbie Robertson, and Mark Knopfler inspired me, and I love teaching students how to play the music that inspires them.
